Presented is a fabulous silver filigree openwork basket. The basket is probably of eastern European make, possibly German or Austrian, but we don’t know for sure. The basket dates to the first half of the 1800s. The basket is done in a beautiful filigree design, with flower decorations around the edge and leaf form feet. On either side of the basket is a wreath form dangling handle. The level of detailing and fine texturing on this piece is exceptional. The basket is very well made, with sturdy pinned construction and all around great craftsmanship.
This piece is in great condition. There are no dents, no breaks, no losses, and no repairs.
The basket is stamped on the underside with a hallmark or maker’s mark we unfortunately do not recognize.
The basket is about 4 inches tall.
This piece weighs 258 grams or 9.1 regular ounces.
