An antique fine quality Chinese Export hand painted chinoiserie tea caddy with hinged lid made for the European market. It is 8 sided, black lacquered and has gilt decorations of Chinese figures and geometric designs on all sides. Chinese characters decorate the lid. It retains the original etched pewter canister and lid. The age is estimated at circa 1820. This lovely caddy is highly collectible.
